The Republican Federated Women of The Villages have made a commitment to our men and women serving in uniform and to our military veterans. It is our honor and duty to support those who have put their lives on the line to preserve the freedoms we as Americans often take for granted. We can never thank them or their families enough, nor show them too much gratitude, for their service and their sacrifice. The RFWTV Armed Forces and Americanism Committee oversees the Club's ongoing efforts to support our troops!
Our brand-new Armed Services Committee gets off to a great start with the combined "Armed Forces Appreciation Day" and "Walking For DeSantis" event led by committee chair Meg Beck on Saturday, May 21st at Lake Sumter Landing.
ARMED FORCES APPRECIATION DAY, MAY 21
RFWTV members & spouses combined their celebration of
"Armed Forces Day" with their "Walking For DeSantis" event
Join Us As We Celebrate This Special Day!
Project 1, At Home: Please put out all your yard flags, bunting, patriotic wreaths, flower pot decorations, etc. at your house. Make it festive and encourage your neighbors to join in. Guaranteed most won’t know that it is Armed Forces Appreciation Day.
Take pictures and email them to Meg Beck (contact info. below) and add a few words or a story. By all means, be in the picture…wear the club hat or visor, red shirt, red white and blue, hold the club banner…bottom line, make it fun, special and above all think about our military and their families near and far.
Project 2, Lake Sumter Landing Walks: Several times each month, our RFWTV "Walking For DeSantis" Lake Sumter Landing Team meets on Saturdays at 8:25 AM across the street from Panera for a 30-45 minute walk.
ARMED SERVICES DAY: In addition to promoting our amazing Governor, we will make our May 21st walk a patriotic extravaganza and thank all those who served (and spouses too) as we walk around Lake Sumter Landing. We wear red shirts or “statement” T-shirts, hats of every shape, carry flags, banner etc.
This Saturday, May 21st -- if you have any Armed Services Flags, banners that are easy to carry, please bring them along with you! Please join us whether or not you have anything red or military-oriented, we would prefer to have you with us.
By all means, bring your neighbor, friend or spouse. If you are not a walker, there are benches around the Square that you can do your flag waving from. Picture taking will of course be included. After we are done, several of our walkers go over to Panera for breakfast, some go home for their next activity or nap while others continue to walk for fun.
