"Democracy at a Crossroads in the Philippines"

The Villages News, April 24, 2022

By Tita Dumagsa

Most of us are of immigrant roots, whether first or second generation. We are HYPHENATED AMERICANS as in my case, I am a Filipino-American. The land of my birth is the PHILIPPINES but I am an American by choice...

"Come On In, The Border Is Open!"

By Tita Dumagsa

Villages-News.com, September 28, 2022

I was one of those who immigrated from the Philippines to the United States on a 3rd PREFERENCE VISA, a visa given to professionals. I guess at that time, the United States needed professionals in various fields of expertise and opened the DOOR  to professionals like myself to this LAND OF OPPORTUNITY. One then became a Permanent Resident or Green Card Holder with this kind of visa and after a required  wait of five years, one could apply to become an American citizen, which I am, proudly and gratefully one, now.

OTHERS LIKE ME:

But, there are thousands if not millions dutifully awaiting their  turn to legally immigrate to the United States, oftentimes with an unbelievable wait of 10-15 years especially for family members. These are the people who are coming through the FRONT DOOR patiently respecting the Immigration Laws of the United States.

THE POROUS BORDER – 2 MILLION APPREHENSIONS AND COUNTING

You can just imagine how they must feel when they see and hear the news of the surge of illegals by the thousands jumping the line. Year to date, the count is  a shocking over 2 million illegals have been apprehended  by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection or CBP at the border. The Biden Administration on the other hand, has reduced deportations by 68 percent. The numbers are growing coming in through the BACK DOOR because the United States no longer has a southern border to be respected and feared. Immigration officials have estimated that over 400,000 illegals have entered the United States undetected nor caught by the CBP on top of the 2 million who have been apprehended.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP AND THE BORDER WALL

It is unfortunate for the aliens seeking to be legal immigrants to the United States, that President Donald Trump is no longer the U.S. President. He always believed that the border has to be protected to maintain America’s  sovereignty. He also believed that without a border, one does not have a country. That is why he built the border wall to protect the southern border of the United States from illegals and other bad elements. There was only a small portion of the wall left to be finished but construction was completely stopped when President Trump left office...

Voters Must Stand Up for America in Mid-Term Elections

Voters must stand up for America in mid-term elections

The MID-TERM ELECTIONS OF 2022 are a very critical election. So much is at stake because the MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE and his PARTY have racked our country with crisis after crisis with their reckless policies and unabated irresponsible spending.

As I cast my vote on Nov.8, these are the issues uppermost on my mind and I hope they will be on yours too so we can correct the course of the WRONG DIRECTION we’ve been steered since the MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE and his PARTY took over just 19 months ago:

  • INFLATION is at a 40 year high at 8.2%. Consumer prices are up 9.1 %, the LARGEST increase in 40 years.  Under THIS Man’s WATCH, an out-of-control “stimulus” spending bill of $1.9 TRILLION passed in the dead of night WITHOUT A SINGLE REPUBLICAN vote has fueled this record surge in inflation. ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I buy these days is SO EXPENSIVE!!

Republican Group’s Efforts Helped Secure Florida’s RED WAVE!

This active club worked very hard to help secure victories for Governor DeSantis, Senator Rubio, and other Republican candidates

Nov. 16, 2022, Thomas Mule, ResidentReport.com

The Republican Federated Women of The Villages [RFWTV] did not spend time during the midterms sitting down, nor did they take Florida’s statewide elections for granted.

This active club worked very hard to help secure victories for Governor DeSantis, Senator Rubio, and other Republican candidates. Through their grassroots efforts, the group made over 156,000 get-out-the-vote calls and participated in 265 walks at area recreation centers.

Their hard work drew praise from the Sumter County Republican Chairwoman Samantha Scott, who said to the group “Your efforts in the phone bank engaged and encouraged Conservative voters in Sumter County and beyond.”

More than 62 volunteers worked in 12-person teams for three-hour shifts at a call center. Dianne Olsen and her husband Mike Plocharczyk spearheaded the phone banking. This was Olsen’s fourth time leading this effort, and she has watched the operation grow from a handful of volunteers in her kitchen to the large operation it is today. “So much good was done,” she said. In many instances, volunteers were able to help seniors who couldn’t use the internet or find their polling location.

Some volunteers even helped voters get in touch with the Supervisor of Elections. “These calls got more and more positive as we went along,” said Olsen. She had a very positive experience with a 70-year-old veteran who initially told her he had given up on voting. Olsen stayed on the phone with the man, telling him it is because of veterans like him that we have the ability to vote. Ultimately Olsen was able to convince him to go vote. After she hung up the phone, all 12 volunteers cheered for her... (Read the full article at ResidentReport.com by clicking the link below).
