National Federation of Republican Women

A Resolution Condemning Political Violence & Defending Free Speech in Memory of Charlie

WHEREAS, Over the last decade political violence and intimidation has increased to unacceptable levels across our nation, threatening the very foundation of our constitutional republic;

WHEREAS, President Donald Trump's life was nearly taken by an assassin's bullet in July 2024, and a second attempt on his life was thwarted in September 2024;

WHEREAS, On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and devoted husband, father, son, and brother, was tragically assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University;

WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk, at just 31 years old, had dedicated his life to inspiring millions of young Americans to think critically and stand boldly for conservative principles, making him a powerful voice for liberty and constitutional values and for his Christian faith;

WHEREAS, His assassination while speaking on a college campus, a place that should be a sanctuary for the free exchange of ideas, represents a chilling assault on the fundamental American principle of free speech;

WHEREAS, The rhetoric of the left has inflamed passions to dangerous levels where ideological differences are deemed to justify silencing those with opposing views through violent means;

WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk did not deserve to be eliminated because of his political beliefs, nor does any American citizen deserve to face violence for exercising their constitutional rights;

WHEREAS, This assassination serves as a stark reminder of the poisonous root of hatred that drives political violence, a dangerous ideology that seeks to destroy rather than build, to silence rather than engage, and to murder rather than debate; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk's legacy of empowering young conservatives and giving them voice on campuses where they often felt isolated must not die with him but must live on in every young American who refuses to be silenced;

RESOLVED, That the National Federation of Republican Women, meeting at its 43rd Biennial Convention in Orlando, Florida, September 27-28, 2025, condemns in the strongest possible terms all forms of political violence, recognizing such acts as antithetical to American values and democratic principles;

RESOLVED, That the NFRW honors the memory of Charlie Kirk as a devoted family man, patriot, and champion of free speech who paid the ultimate price for his unwavering commitment to constitutional principles and conservative values;

RESOLVED, That the NFRW will always support and defend the constitutional rights of freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and representative government of, by, and for the people;

RESOLVED, That the NFRW refuses to cower to threats of political violence from any source, refuses to be silenced by intimidation, and will work with renewed determination to elect strong, conservative, and principled leaders who will work for good government; and

RESOLVED, That the NFRW demands that the American justice system enforce the Constitution and punish to the full extent of the law all perpetrators of political violence, ensuring that justice is served for Charlie Kirk and all victims of such heinous acts.

A Message from Judy Holleran, RFWTV Legislative Committee

Education Subcommittee: "CRT 2.0 - Constitutional Essay Project"

Dec. 13, 2023. The Villages, Florida

As a counter to Critical Race Theory (CRT), we proposed to our local Sumter County School administration that RFWTV sponsor a poster and essay contest to coincide with Constitution Day, celebrated on September 17, 2023. Our proposal was accepted.

The instructions to students were to read the Preamble of the Constitution and the First Amendment. The students were to pick one of the five freedoms defined in the First Amendment: Freedoms of Religion, Speech, the Press, to Assemble, and to Petition the Government for a Redress of Grievances.

A total of 13 posters, 36 essays, and 17 videos were submitted and judged by our committee. Entries were scored and the top three students were awarded $25 gift cards and all finalists received personalized certificates.

Thank you to the judging team: Meg Beck, Carolyn Blayne, Joan Halstead, Sally Andersen, Gerald Loomer, and Judy Holleran. During the process, Joan Halstead also designed and printed “Our Constitution Rocks” T-shirts with the Preamble to the Constitution.
